That's fine and a good guide for that purpose. That's fine, but I didn't see a single one that talked about rod and reel selection and how to match them to the type fishing you're going to do.Īnd I know about the one wiki page where it talks about matching up line, reel and rod weights. And I saw probably 50 guides alone on how to get a line unsnagged. So much has changed with technology, gearing and techniques that I'm pretty lost in it all. Back then we only had stuff like cane poles, Zebco closed-faced casting combos and, if you were wealthy, a spinning rod n reel. Reason I ask, I haven't done any serious fishing since my youth in the 1970s and probably last time was early to mid-1980s. Just wondering if there was any guide on rods and reels from the standpoint of the technical stuff I'm unfamiliar with, for example, explaining gear ratios, recovery, action and power primarily and how to match it up for a good rod-reel combo for either specific or all-purpose fishing.
